Privacy Policy of Bernard

The gist of our privacy policy is as follows:

  • We process and store the contents and metadata of each Discord message as part of our AutoMod feature for a maximum of 14 days. After 14 days, this data is automatically deleted.
  • When Bernard punishes a member for posting in a server's honeypot channel, we store a moderation record containing the member's Discord user ID, the IDs of the server, channel and message, the punishment and whether it succeeded, the member's time in the server, and the age of their account. This record does not include the content of the message. It is kept so the server's moderators can review honeypot activity, and is deleted on request like the rest of a user's data.
  • We store telemetry about events that happen within each Discord server Bernard is a part of for a maximum of 90 days. This data is primarily for monitoring and troubleshooting purposes to ensure Bernard is operating as expected. After 90 days, this data is automatically deleted.
  • Examples of events include users joining or leaving a server, users joining or leaving voice channels, text messages being edited or deleted, and so on.
  • Data is not automatically deleted when Bernard leaves a server. This is for the sole purpose of us reviewing relevant data to continuously improve Bernard.
  • Data collected by the Bernard Discord bot is not shared with any third parties, except as described below. All data is accessible to select employees and contractors of Quad Zero Ventures, LLC for the sole purpose of continuously improving Bernard.
  • Bug reports, feature requests, and feedback submitted through the Bernard website or with Bernard's /feedback command in Discord are stored as issues in a private GitHub repository, along with your Discord user ID, Discord username and display name, your Bernard account ID, and the ID and name of the server you selected or used the command in (if any). If you use /feedback before ever signing in to the Bernard website, Bernard creates a Bernard account linked to your Discord user ID and username so your submissions can be rate limited and, if needed, blocked. Error reports from the Bernard Discord bot and AutoMod false-positive reports are stored the same way, and can include Discord message content, usernames, server and channel names, Discord user, channel, and server IDs, and related moderation details. GitHub, Inc. processes this data on our behalf as a third-party service provider. Access to this repository is limited to select employees and contractors of Quad Zero Ventures, LLC, with one exception: the title of an issue we choose to track publicly is shown on the Bernard website's support page so users can see known problems and recent fixes. We may reword a title before showing it. Issue descriptions, comments, and details about who submitted an issue are never shown publicly.

All users have the right to request that relevant data stored by Bernard be deleted. Contact us via email at [email protected] for more information, as well as with any further privacy concerns.
